About TRIUMPH
The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health has developed an urban medicine training program, Training in Urban Medicine and Public Health (TRIUMPH), in response to the shortage of physicians in urban areas of Wisconsin.
A report produced by the Wisconsin Hospital Association and the Wisconsin Medical Society states, "After reviewing existing data and analysis, the task force concluded that an unmet current need exists for physician services and that the problem will likely grow worse in the future unless aggressively managed."
The urban medicine program was developed by UW School of Medicine and Public Health faculty in Madison and Milwaukee. The program was piloted during the 2008-09 academic year with six third-year medical students. The Training in Urban Medicine and Public Health program will accommodate more students in the years ahead.
