The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, through the Office of the Senior Associate Dean for Basic Research, Biotechnology and Graduate Studies, announces a call for applications for the 2011 Lily's Fund Postdoctoral Fellowship to support research training in epilepsy-related research.
The successful candidate will be mentored by a University of Wisconsin-Madison faculty member to:
- Develop critical skills in research
- Advance his or her understanding of epilepsy and related scientific issues
- Commence a career in epilepsy-related research
The Lily's Fund Postdoctoral Fellowship provides up to two years of postdoctoral funding at one-half of current NIH NRSA stipend levels, plus fringe benefits. The applicant's mentor must identify matching funds to fully fund the fellowship.
To be eligible for a Lily's Fund Fellowship, applicants must have received their MD or PhD degree within one year prior to the application date.
Please provide the following materials by the application date:
- Application form (pdf)
- Curriculum vitae, with work and training histories and one reprint of a publication
- Research statement (up to two pages), including brief summaries of past and current research and a synopsis of proposed fellowship research
- Personal statement of career goals, including the importance of a Lily's Fund Postdoctoral Fellowship to career development (up to two pages)
- Biosketch of research mentor
- Letter from the research mentor indicating the relevance of the proposed research to epilepsy, other research support available to the applicant should a fellowship be awarded and willingness to serve as a mentor to the applicant

Applications must be received by March 1, 2011. Finalists will be interviewed by the review committee, and this year's Lily's Fund Postdoctoral Fellow will be announced in May 2011 for a July 1, 2011, start date.
