Whitney Witt Elected Section Councilor of APHA Maternal Child Health Section
Dr. Whitney Witt, associate professor of population health sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, has been elected among her peers to serve as section councilor to the American Public Health Association (APHA) Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Section.
Dr. Georges Benjamin, executive director of the American Public Health Association, writes in a letter to Witt, “The American Public Health Association values and appreciates your dedication and commitment to the betterment of public health. I am certain your participation will lead your Section into an exciting and productive year in 2013. Please accept my personal congratulations on your newly elected position.”
The Maternal and Child Health Section of the American Public Health Association was organized in 1921 with the mission of developing innovative and creative approaches to addressing the health needs of mothers, children, adolescents, and families.
The goals of the section are to:
- Influence national policy development related to maternal and child health
- Develop leaders among Maternal and Child Health Section members and student fellows
- Keep the Maternal and Child Health Section membership informed about national legislation, budget issues and policy related to maternal and child health
Dr. Witt will be participating in the Section’s programs and activities in the upcoming year.
