Medical Student Parker Hoerz Earns Public Health Award

Parker Hoerz, a second-year medical student at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, received an American Public Health Association (APHA) Student Assembly award for the paper he presented at the October 2011 APHA conference.

He did a Shapiro and Department of Population Health Sciences-funded internship at the Survey of the Health of Wisconsin (SHOW) last summer working with Kristen Malecki and Javier Nieto on the association between the walkability score of the SHOW participants' households with their physical activity and cardiovascular risk.
