Madison, Wisconsin - People who have been touched by cancer will take a stand, by walking away.

The first Walk Away from Cancer, sponsored by the UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC), will be held at 9am Saturday, August 6.

All proceeds from the walk will benefit cancer research at Carbone Cancer Center.

The three-mile walk through the UW-Madison campus begins and ends at the cul-de-sac between Nielsen Tennis Stadium and Goodman Softball Complex, adjacent to UW Hospital and Clinics. Following the walk, there will be a celebration featuring refreshments and music from the UW Marching Band.

The person who raises the most money for cancer research will win a pair of coach tickets on Air Tran Airways for travel anywhere in the continental United States, including Puerto Rico.
