Private gifts make a tremendous difference and are deeply appreciated by the Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association and the UW School of Medicine and Public Health.
Gifts are administered through the University of Wisconsin Foundation. The UW Foundation is the official fundraising and gift-receiving organization for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and provides tax receipting for gifts.
All cumulative gifts to the school - including the Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association - of at least $10,000 qualify you for membership in the Middleton Society, the prestigious group of our most committed friends and supporters. Please consider joining today because together, we can make a difference!
Areas of support
The medical alumni association has a variety of funds that support functions of the organization, the School or Medicine and Public Health or its students.
Medical Alumni Association Fund
Your gift to the medical alumni association is vital to our continued operation! Gifts are used for many student programs, the Quarterly magazine, events, class reunions, awards for students, faculty and alumni and other medical alumni association activities as determined by the board of directors.
Great People Scholarship Fund
In the spirit of making things better for today's medical students, the Wisconsin Medical Alumni Association is committed to raising significant scholarship support. The chancellor and the UW Foundation recognize the need for additional student financial support and created the Great People Scholarship Program.
Join our commitment to keeping the UW School of Medicine and Public Health affordable and doing our part to retain the best Wisconsin physicians in areas of need.
Stethoscope Program Fund
This program provides each incoming medical student with a stethoscope purchased by us, the alumni. Stethoscopes, along with a card bearing the donor’s name and class year, will be presented to incoming students during orientation week. Donors and their students then have the opportunity to connect with one another at the medical alumni association barbecue and again during the homecoming reception.
With a gift of $150, you will be sponsoring an incoming student with a stethoscope – or a donation of $500 gifts a stethoscope plus additionally supports the medical alumni association-sponsored programs of one student for all four years of medical school, so you can follow your student through four years of schooling, match day and graduation! And become members of the Stethoscope Circle by pledging a stethoscope gift annually.
Show our new first-year medical students that the circle of alumni support that surrounds them is strong! The gift is a great way to welcome them into our UW medical family – and to let them know that those who went before them care, believe in their success, and take great pride in the medical profession.
When I started, I had a stethoscope given to me by my mentor from back home in Green Bay and I still have it. I still use it and I still think of him every time I pull it out.Sam Lubner, MD ’03, Stethoscope Circle Donor
Thank you in advance for your support! Our role as alumni is crucial in helping make a positive difference in the lives of medical students during their education here.
Dean's Annual Fund
Traditional funding sources cover only the school's most basic operating costs. Your gift to the School of Medicine and Public Health's Annual Fund provides dollars that can be used to attract the best students and faculty.
These funds give the school the flexibility to respond to unexpected opportunities. They are used for faculty support, scholarship aid, technology, seed funding for new programs, translational research and outreach programs.
Other giving opportunities
We are grateful for gifts to any funds benefiting the UW School of Medicine and Public Health and the medical alumni association. If you would like to support an area not listed above, please donate online.
