MGCS Information Sessions

The Master of Genetic Counselor Studies (MGCS) program hosts various information sessions throughout the year to help you learn more about the profession and the MGCS program.

Annual Open House

This annual August event provides prospective students with an overview of the profession, information on the application process and an opportunity to ask genetic counselors and current students questions during an interactive Q&A session.

Space is limited for this two-hour virtual session and registration is required.

Registration information is posted in late spring.

Information Sessions With Current Students

These one-hour, virtual sessions occur three times throughout the academic year. Current genetic counseling students host each session and will provide a brief overview of the profession, followed by an interactive Q&A where they may share their own pathways towards becoming a genetic counseling student, or what a day in the life of a current student looks like. RSVP is required.

Office Hours

A member of the program leadership team is regularly available for virtual “office hours.” This one-hour session is a place to bring questions about the program and the application process. Please note that any advising will be limited to general questions about the application process. Specific application materials will not be reviewed. It is ok to discuss opportunities for advocacy, but we will not review a personal statement. These sessions are open to all and no RSVP is needed; join the zoom link to attend.
