MEDiC's goal of improving access to health care among the Madison area's most underserved populations cannot be achieved alone. Through partnerships, grants, donations and volunteerism, MEDiC has expanded in both the number of clinics and the variety of services it provides.

See how you can help, whether you're a student, physician or donor.

Are you a student?

Currently, MEDiC can only use student volunteers from the following disciplines: medicine, pharmacy, nursing, physical therapy, physician assistant and nurse practitioner.

MEDiC volunteers must attend an orientation session before they can begin working in clinics. MEDiC holds two volunteer sessions each year. The first is held in June and the second occurs at the beginning of the academic year, in September. Students should receive an email a few weeks before each orientation.

MEDiC makes every effort to give each student at least one volunteer shift per semester. However, demand for our volunteer positions is high, so it's not always possible. Students not initially scheduled for a shift will receive emails each time a shift becomes available and can fill in as needed.

If you have any questions regarding the next orientation or volunteer opportunities, please email

Would you like to donate money?

MEDiC operates on a small budget and, in recent years, has been able to raise all the funds necessary to provide patient care. Much of the money used to support MEDiC comes from direct donations. MEDiC welcomes gifts of all size.

See the adjacent box for information about donating online or by mail.

Are you a health care provider?

MEDiC welcomes physicians, physician assistants, physical therapists and nurse practitioners of all medical fields and specialties to serve as volunteers in our clinics. Both attending and intern/resident physicians are eligible to participate.

Physicians, physician assistants, physical therapists and nurse practitioners who have an appointment with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health are eligible to volunteer immediately. Those without a faculty appointment are invited to apply for a volunteer appointment. All physicians who would like to volunteer for MEDiC should email

Would you like to donate medical services or medication?
