MSTP alumni help train the next generation of physician-scientists by serving as mentors, advisors and educators. Multiple graduates of the program are now faculty trainers right here at UW–Madison.

Nearly 80 percent of University of Wisconsin MSTP graduates from the past 15 years hold positions in academia, the NIH, another federal agency, research institute or industry after completing their clinical training; this is higher than the 71 percent reported in the national MD-PhD program outcomes study.

Our recent graduates have had significant success transitioning to independent careers in biomedical science and in maintaining research engagement during their clinical training: 94 percent of 2019-2023 graduates entered residency programs with integrated research training.
